2 hours of sleep after a memorable show and an easily forgotten rift involving our sleeping arrangements ( sorry to our beautiful friends who were inconvenienced by our lapse in communication, fortunately, these discussions pull us all closer together and exercise our psychic skills). we sailed thru am traffic and found parking right by citylights (with only one minor brush-up). found a fabulous coffee/bagel shop by the name of cafe prague. what a way to spend the morning... kat lamp, susie, seatch, and kinder...a stroll thru the streets to citylights...more paperbacks to tempt me... phil and charlotte hanes...t-shirts and pictures... a walk to a nice italian restaurant with ferlinghetti and the whole gang...wine, pasta, wine, clam chowder, wine. talking to a man who is intelligent and wise, experienced and poetic; an inspiration with vision and plenty if suggestions ideas for the psychic revolution to operate more efficiently , namely: "seems like you should have arranged locations to get grease before you left," and "you can plan and still be organic, just plan organically." Portland has been magnificient to us, some of the best cookin yet. Also tried our luck at the Goodwill bins ($1.29) a pound! Traded out some old costumes for new ones, well, new to us.
Last night we boiled in Mt Hoods Hot springs, an ever so needed
soak followed by a mile hike through the mountain. We turned off our flashlights for the walk, and let the moon direct the way.

It is with great regret that we announce that (thus far) Montana is the state upon which Psychic Control appears to have the tightest grip.

First, and if you're planning a cross country trip in a grease powered vehicle, this one is important: THERE IS NO GREASE IN BUTTE, MONTANA (don't bother looking in every single grease trap and barrel because we've already done that). Next, the handle on our grease pump snapped like a twig at a truck stop outside Missoula and we had to search the hills for a welder. And finally, with a full tank of grease and just two miles to the Idaho border, our fuel pump pretended to die.

So after sleeping on the shoulder of a really scary mountain pass , the bus tilting at an unrestful thirty degree angle, blown by transport trucks and a freezing high altitude wind, we limped across the Idaho border. The grip of the Montana Psychic Militia thus broken, the fuel pump healed itself and we made great time across what remained of the continent, arriving in Seattle near sundown.

Anacortes is on an island. You would like it here...
